Under 18 White team to tour Cyprus
February 21, 2023
Half term next week will be slightly different for one of the teams of community grassroots club Omonia Youth FC, sponsored by Diamond Corp. Ltd as they will be spending their week in Cyprus.
Michael Pieri and Harry Theodorou’s Under 18 White team will be celebrating their final year in grassroots youth football by going on a tour to Cyprus where they will play three prestigious friendlies. The Under 18 White, who are enjoying a fine season, will play matches against Anorthosis, Omonoia Nicosia and New Salamis. Excitingly, their match against Omonoia Nicosia will be played at the club’s Illias Poullos training ground. That same day they will be guests of the club at one of the biggest games in Cypriot football, as they will watch Omonoia take on rivals APOEL in the Cyprus Cup at the GSP Stadium.
The squad that will be flying out includes: Stefanos Pieri, Andreas Fereos, Kevin Milenkovic, Andre Bacchus, Nicholas Theodorou, Michael Pavlou, Yianni Sophocleaous, Igor Gomes-Matos, Christian Pempestios, Viktor Borisov, Billy Cook, Tom Morgan, Sami Hristov, Rohan Biswas, Edwin Abbassi, Michael Mina, Godwin Obeng and Noel Allen.
The itinerary for the tour is as follows:
Sunday 12th February – Arrive in Larnaca
Monday 13th vs Anorthosis
Tuesday 14th – training
Wednesday 15th vs Omonoia Nicosia
Wednesday 15th watch Omonoia v APOEL
Thursday 16th vs New Salamis
Friday 17th – Free Day
Saturday 18th – Return to London
The team will be accompanied on the trip by the coaching staff of Michael Pieri and Harry Theodorou. Talking about the trip Michael said: “The trip has taken months of planning and we hope the boys take away plenty from the trip. We want this trip to be a memorable one; one that we all look back on in years to come with fondness. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel with your teammates and friends to a foreign country to play football. However, there is an element of sadness as two of our boys can’t be there with us but they will be in our thoughts throughout. I would like to thank the many people who gave donations to enable the trip to go ahead. Special thanks to AGK Partners who sponsored our kit, to Hydra Capital and Golden Boy Entertainment too for their contributions. There have also been some amazing individuals who have helped in incredible ways. They know who they are, and their generosity has been heart-warming and we thank them dearly. Please keep an eye on the club’s social media channels for updates on the trip.”
The club would like to wish the team and coaching staff a safe journey and hope the team enjoy their football in what will be a fantastic experience for all.
