Omonia Youth FC, a community football club sponsored by Diamond Corp. Ltd., experienced an eventful weekend filled with thrilling matches across various age groups. From impressive victories to hard-fought draws, the club’s young athletes displayed pliability and skill on the field, leaving spectators in awe of their talents.

 

Fun-filled Pan-Disability Tournament: The U12 and U16 Pan-Disability teams showcased their talents at the Herts Pan Disability tournament held at the Watford FC Dome. It was a heartwarming display of sportsmanship and camaraderie as the teams engaged in the game they love, spreading joy and smiles all around. Despite the challenges they face, the players exhibited immense spirit and determination on the pitch. Remarkably, the U16s emerged victorious in all their matches, clinching the U16 Premier tournament title in a testament to their skill and teamwork.

 

 

U8 Silver’s Fighting Spirit: Led by Coach Kyri Karaiskakis, Omonia’s U8 Silver team exemplified unwavering resolution in a challenging cup match against a higher division team. Despite being the underdogs, the boys displayed remarkable toughness and positivity throughout the game. Despite facing adversity, they remained composed and focused, showcasing exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship. Their unwavering fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude served as a testament to their character, earning them praise and admiration from both coaches and spectators alike.

 

 

U13 White Lions Triumph: Anthony Matas and Tony Stylianides’ U13 White Lions secured an impressive 5-2 victory in their GSL match. Though slow to start, the girls rallied in the second half, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and skill. Special mentions for Sofia for her outstanding performance earning her the Player of the Match accolade chosen by her team mates, Aanya who scored two well created and finished goals as well as providing an assist, Ria slotted home to finish a well-worked team goal, and to Isabella for her remarkable lob goal from almost as far as the half way point. The team’s tenacity and strength of will were evident throughout the match, as they showcased their ability to overcome challenges and emerge victorious.

 

 

Men 1st Team Battles to Draw: Under the guidance of Chris Gregoriou, Omonia’s Men 1st Team fought valiantly in a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the North London Cup match. Despite facing a formidable opponent, the team displayed resilience and determination, battling until the final whistle. Their unwavering commitment and fighting spirit were commendable, as they displayed their ability to compete at a high level and secure a valuable point.

 

U9 Wildcats Shine After Break: Under the guidance of Athanasia Petrou, Omonia’s U9 Wildcats made a triumphant return to the pitch after a break, displaying newfound confidence and teamwork. Despite facing initial challenges, the girls adapted quickly and showed their skills with precise passing and strategic positioning. The second half saw them elevate their game even further, as they exhibited resilience and determination, culminating in a commendable performance that left their coach proud and optimistic for future matches.

 

 

U13 Green Claims Victory: Jack Markou, Manos Hadjimanolis, and Andy Stavrou’s U13 Green team secured a convincing 4-1 win in the WFL match. After conceding an early goal, the team rallied and demonstrated an impressive display of teamwork and resoluteness. The second half saw them elevate their performance even further, as they dominated the game and scored decisive goals to seal the victory. Their strength of character and determination were evident throughout the match, earning them a well-deserved win and praise from their coaches and supporters.

 

U16 Girls Secure Commanding Win: Sophia Karanicholas and Samuel Arthur’s U16 Girls dominated with a 5-0 victory in the HGFPL match. Shekhinah’s four goals showcased her prowess, while Marley’s versatility stood out, earning her the Player of the Match title. Despite a slow start, the girls improved in the second half, demonstrating excellent passing and tactical adjustments. Their cohesive gameplay and relentless attack overwhelmed the opposition, securing a well-deserved victory and solidifying their position at the top of the league.

 

 

Omonia Youth FC extend their heartfelt gratitude to GLS and Maya for their exceptional support. Regrettably, the scheduled fixture for the Omonia U11 White Wildcats was unexpectedly cancelled at the eleventh hour by their opponents. However, thanks to Maya’s swift coordination, an alternative friendly match was arranged for the U11 girls’ team. Moreover, OYFC extend their appreciation to the opposing team from the league, who had recently completed another match, for accommodating this impromptu encounter.

 

The weekend’s match reports from Omonia Youth FC reflect a commendable display of talent, will power, and teamwork across various age groups.
