Weekly Round-Up: Double Winners, Cup Final Spirit and Exciting Opportunities Ahead (10/05)

May 11, 2026

It’s been another memorable week for Omonia Youth FC, filled with proud moments, strong performances, and a reminder of the togetherness that continues to drive the club forward.

Headlining the week was a huge achievement for our U18 Whites, who completed an incredible league and cup double after lifting the Spring Cup just days after being crowned league champions. Across the club, there were also cup finals, determined performances, season finales, and further signs of the progress being made throughout all age groups.

Off the pitch, excitement continues to build for the future as Omonia Youth FC expands and develops pathways across the club. We are currently looking for players currently in Year 1 and Year 2 to join our U7 and U8 age groups ahead of next season, with training taking place every Friday from 5:30–6:30 PM.

Alongside this, our Girls U10/11 Performance Pathway Trials for the 2026/27 season continue to offer ambitious young players the opportunity to develop within a competitive and supportive environment, with UEFA-qualified coaching and a clear pathway for progression.

U18 White: Double Winners After Dramatic Cup Final Triumph
Spring Cup Final | Win 3–2 | vs AEK | Goal-scorers: Nicholas, Andreas J, Blake | Coaches: Kyri, Myri, Joe

What a week for the U18 Whites.

Fresh from securing the league title, the boys completed a remarkable double with a dramatic and hard-fought Spring Cup Final victory against AEK.

There was emotion before a ball had even been kicked, with difficult squad decisions having to be made for such a huge occasion. Once the game began, however, the boys showed exactly why they have enjoyed such a successful season.

Omonia started strongly and deservedly took the lead after relentless pressing from Kordian forced an opportunity for Nicholas to race through and finish confidently. Although AEK equalised from a dangerous cross into the box, the response from Omonia was immediate and impressive. A superb long pass from Blake released Andreas J, who calmly restored the lead before half-time.

The second half remained tense and fiercely competitive. Omonia controlled possession for long spells, but AEK found another equaliser following a debated offside moment. Rather than panic, the boys raised their level once again, increasing the tempo and pushing forward with purpose.

Their reward eventually came when a dangerous corner led to Blake forcing home the winner, sparking jubilant celebrations. The boys then managed the closing stages superbly to seal a fantastic victory and complete an unforgettable double-winning campaign.

It has been a truly outstanding season for a group defined by togetherness, resilience, and a commitment to playing football the right way.

U15 White: Pride Despite Tough Final Result
Junior League Cup Final | Loss 1–6 | vs Maccabi | Goal-scorer: George | Coaches: George, Mark

Omonia Youth FC U15 White

Despite the final scoreline, there was plenty for the U15 Whites to be proud of following a determined and competitive cup final performance against the league leaders.

An early injury to River forced the team to adapt quickly, with captain Edmund dropping into defence alongside Deniz, who produced an excellent display at the back. After conceding early, Omonia responded well and deservedly levelled before half-time through George after good work from James.

The Whites continued to compete strongly throughout much of the second half, creating several good opportunities and showing impressive composure in possession. George remained a constant threat, while Adam and Chris caused problems out wide. The introduction of Yahya alongside Alex X also helped Omonia play with greater control through midfield.

Although Maccabi eventually pulled away late on, the scoreline did not reflect how competitive the game had been for long periods. For a newly formed team in its first season together, reaching a cup final and competing so strongly against the league leaders is a major achievement and one the whole squad should be proud of.

U12 Silver: Narrow Defeat Cannot Overshadow Outstanding Cup Run
Junior League Cup Final | Loss 0–1

Omonia Youth FC U12 Silver

The U12 Silvers suffered an unfortunate defeat in their cup final against an unbeaten Titans side, with the game ultimately decided by the finest of margins.

A saved Omonia penalty and a goalmouth scramble from a corner proved to be the difference between the teams in an otherwise fiercely contested match where clear-cut chances were limited.

Every player battled tirelessly and competed strongly throughout, showing the organisation and determination that has defined their season. Reaching a cup final in their very first season together is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of how quickly this group has developed.

There is no doubt this experience will help drive the team forward moving into next season.

Backed by fantastic support from the sidelines, the Greens approached their final game of the season determined to finish on a high.

Despite an early setback, the girls showed incredible spirit and resilience throughout, refusing to give up and battling right until the final whistle. Every player contributed with energy, determination, and teamwork in a performance that reflected the progress made across the season.

A particularly special moment saw two players score their debut goals, adding to the celebrations and giving families plenty to cheer about from the sidelines.

It was a positive and memorable way to end the campaign, with plenty of excitement already building for next season.

U13 Green: More Than Results in Important Season of Growth

Omonia Youth Fc U13 Green

The Greens ended their season with a victory, but beyond the result, this campaign has been about building something far bigger.

With ten new players joining the squad at the beginning of the season, the year brought plenty of challenges and adjustments. However, what developed over time was a strong sense of harmony, friendship, and togetherness that became the foundation of the group.

The bond created between players, coaches, and parents has helped shape a genuine family atmosphere around the team—something every bit as important as results on the pitch.

U16 Pan-Disability: Passion, Positivity and Brilliant Attitude on Display

Omonia Youth FC U16 Pan-Disability

Despite one player preparing to begin GCSE exams the following day, the boys arrived full of enthusiasm and ready to compete.

Across the day, they produced some excellent football, combining strong passing moves with several brilliant goals. Their effort and attitude never dropped, finishing with one victory and two defeats while continuing to show composure and sportsmanship throughout.

Most importantly, the players loved every moment of playing together and represented the club brilliantly once again.

It’s been another week that perfectly reflects the spirit of Omonia Youth FC—from cup-winning celebrations to moments of resilience, development, and togetherness across every age group. As one season begins to draw to a close, the foundations for the future continue to grow even stronger both on and off the pitch.
