With the sun shining on derby day, both teams played out a fantastic match in the very best spirit of the game. The opening stages reflected the half-term break, with a slightly rusty first half, although the Silvers just edged it overall.
There were fierce tackles alongside moments of real quality, with pockets of sharp pass-and-move football and flowing play from both sides. After the break, motivational team talks sparked the Greens into life, as they came out with renewed energy and began to put the Silvers under sustained pressure.
Despite tired legs, neither side was willing to give in. The Silvers responded strongly, creating chance after chance and eventually finding their reward. Tactical changes from both teams set up a thrilling, end-to-end finale, turning the match into a true race to win the derby.
A brilliant contest and a great advert for youth football, with both sets of players earning huge credit for their effort and attitude.
