Community Hub

At Omonia Youth FC, we don’t just provide football for children, we also support the wider community.

Here are some of our stories….

Referee Sponsorship

At Omonia Youth FC, we don’t just develop footballers, we help shape the next generation of referees too.

If you’re 14 or older and part of the Omonia family, we’ll sponsor your referee qualification.

Panayiotis, Michael, Nicolas, and Ramin; all former Omonia players who frequently referee matches and during the Omonia tournaments.

Ali (former Omonia coach), Melina (former Omonia U14 Green Girls player), and Andrew (Omonia U18 White) recently completed the London FA Referee Course and are now refereeing for the club.

Omonia Kit Donation Initiative

Over the past few years, we’ve been proudly collecting pre-loved Omonia kits from previous seasons, outgrown kits, sportswear and football boots to support those less fortunate.

This wonderful initiative was started several years ago by our former Vice Chair, Chris Mousicos, who began donating used football kits to a charity in Antigua run by Kevin McIntosh, a former Omonia parent.

In October 2025, Club Chair Sophia Karanicholas and Head of Trustees Demi Shiamishis joined Chris and Kevin at the Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda in London to officially hand over the latest collection. Her Excellency Karen Mae Hill expressed her gratitude and kindly arranged for the kits to be shipped to Antigua.

By giving young players access to equipment and uniforms, not only will it improve their experience, but it will also motivate them to get involved in football and help grow the sport of the island.” Barbara Coates, Chairperson, Wings Football Club.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated; your generosity is making a real difference both on and off the pitch.

Donations are collected every Sunday at the tuck shop at JCOSS.

Supporting Christoforos Charity Foundation

Omonia Youth FC proudly supports the Christoforos Charity Foundation (CCF), established in memory of Christoforos, a bright, kind-hearted 15-year-old known for his politeness, respect, and positive spirit.

Tragically, Christoforos became a victim of harmful online content, inspiring his family to create CCF to raise awareness about the dangers young people face online and to promote safety.

For several years, we have provided CCF with a platform at our summer tournaments to share their story and mission in protecting children from online harm.

At these events, CCF connects directly with the community and educates young people and their families about the risks and responsibilities of the digital world.

CCF also uses the tournaments as an opportunity to fundraise for their charity by providing food and refreshments across the weekend. As part of this ongoing partnership, Omonia Youth FC is proud to stand alongside CCF in supporting initiatives that protect children.

Bringing Comfort to Children in Hospital at Christmas

Omonia Youth FC is proud to support the Children’s Hospital Pyjamas Charity, which collects brand-new pyjamas from the public and donates them to hospitals, hospices, and women’s refuges across the UK. These pyjamas are then given to poorly or less fortunate children who are inpatients, bringing comfort and warmth during difficult times.

The Omonia Youth FC family collected an incredible 200 sets of new pyjamas, which were passed on to the charity for children staying at Barnet Hospital over Christmas 2025. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, your generosity helped make the festive season a little brighter for children in need.
