Safeguarding & Welfare

Omonia Youth Football Club takes the welfare and safeguarding of young people extremely seriously. The safety of all our players is our number one priority. We want every child to enjoy their football journey at Omonia Youth FC in a comfortable, enjoyable, and above all safe environment.

Fully Qualified Coaches

All coaches at the Club have enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and hold the appropriate FA Safeguarding, Coaching and First Aid Qualifications required to work with young players.

We encourage all young footballers to enjoy training, matches, and socialising with their teammates in a positive and supportive setting.

Parental Involvement

We also ask parents and carers to take an active interest in safeguarding.

The Club recommends that all parents complete the FA Safeguarding Awareness for Parents & Carers course to help support the safety and well-being of all players.

Club Welfare Team

Wefare Officers

As a grassroots youth football club, it is mandatory under FA rules to have a designated Welfare Officer.

At Omonia Youth FC, our Welfare Team is led by our Welfare & Safeguarding Lead, Mary Tryphona. The team is responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of all players at the Club.

All Welfare Officers at Omonia Youth FC hold a valid DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check and have completed the FA’s essential Safeguarding Children & Welfare Officer training courses.

For further details, you can view the Club’s full Safeguarding Children Policy. Safeguarding Children Policy & Procedures can be downloaded HERE.

Should you have any queries, you can contact the Welfare Team on  welfare@omoniayouthfc.com.

Codes of Conduct for Coaches, Players and Parents

Omonia Youth Football Club recognises the important role sport plays in overall personal development. The Club is committed to providing high-quality football opportunities in a safe, positive, and respectful environment.

Our club promotes personal, professional, and social well-being through footballing experiences, regardless of an individual’s socio-economic status, age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.

Our Codes of Conduct establish the minimum standards of behaviour and best practice expected from everyone involved with the Club, including coaches, players, parents/carers, volunteers, and officials.

These standards exist to help maintain a positive football environment while protecting the welfare and well-being of all participants, particularly young players and those who may be vulnerable. Everyone associated with the Club is expected to contribute to maintaining these standards and to demonstrate respect, integrity, and responsibility at all times.

At the beginning of each season, all coaches, players, parents/carers, and club officials are required to read and sign the relevant Code of Conduct to confirm their understanding and commitment.

Our Codes of conduct for player, managers, parents and spectators can be downloaded HERE.

The FA Respect Campaign

Omonia Youth FC fully supports the FA Respect Campaign, which promotes respect, fairness, and positive behaviour across grassroots football. Details of each individual’s responsibilities can be found in the relevant Codes of Conduct, with further guidance available on the FA website.

Photo, Video & Social Media Consent Policy

Omonia Youth Football Club is committed to safeguarding all children in our care while promoting positive images of our teams, achievements, and events.

To support this, we seek parental/guardian consent for the use of photographs and videos of players for club promotion and communication purposes.

Images and videos may be used across a range of official platforms, including:

  • The Omonia Youth FC website
  • Official social media channels (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, X)
  • Local newspapers
  • Sponsor publications
  • Other club communications

Parents, guardians, and players have the right to decide whether their image is used. The Club will always take care to ensure that players are not identified by name alongside their image.

From time to time, Omonia Youth FC may invite professional photographers or videographers to attend training sessions, matches, or club events. Any images or footage captured may be used as part of the club’s historical record, as well as for promotional, media, and sponsor-related purposes across official platforms.

Use of Images by Parents and Third Parties

We require that no parent, guardian, or spectator posts images or videos of Omonia Youth FC players on personal social media or other platforms without prior written consent from the Club, the team coach, and the parents/guardians of all players featured.

Furthermore, Omonia Youth FC does not permit other clubs, organisations, or third parties to use images or videos of our players or teams on their platforms without explicit written approval from the Club. We take this responsibility seriously as part of our safeguarding commitment.

Important:

While the Club takes safeguarding seriously, we cannot guarantee that images shared for promotional purposes will not appear on social media. For this reason, consent for photography/video and social media use is linked. If a parent or guardian does not wish their child’s image to appear on social media, they should not provide consent for photography or video use.

The Club will take all reasonable steps to ensure that images and videos are used appropriately and solely for their intended purpose. If you become aware of any misuse, please report it immediately to the Club Welfare Officer.

Omonia Youth FC reserves the right to restrict or prohibit photography, video recording, or social media use at any club activity or event.

Photo and Social Media Consent provided by parents/guardians during each season’s registration process confirms agreement for Omonia Youth FC to use images and videos of their child in accordance with this policy.
