Omonia Youth FC Weekly Round-Up: Match-day Action, Festive Connections and Referee Development (14/12)

As the year draws closer to its festive conclusion, another busy weekend saw Omonia Youth FC teams competing across league fixtures while continuing to strengthen bonds that extend well beyond the pitch. From determined performances in challenging conditions to inclusive football opportunities and development initiatives, the club once again demonstrated the values that underpin everything it does.
U10 Green

U10 Green team
The Greens produced a superb all-round performance on a muddy pre-Christmas morning against APB Wingate Raccoons, adapting brilliantly to the heavy conditions. From the opening moments, they imposed themselves with sharp movement and strong decision-making.
The team combined intelligent passing with relentless pressing, staying organised defensively while showing creativity and energy going forward. A thoroughly impressive display of teamwork and quality football.
U9 Green
WFL | Home vs AC Finchley South U9 | PotM: Christopher | Coaches: Andy, Paul, Chris
Omonia made a positive start, creating several chances and showing real hunger to win possession. The game remained finely balanced, with good organisation and composure throughout.
In the second half, Leo impressed on his first appearance in goal, while Christopher’s direct running earned him Player of the Match.
U11 Girls Silver
GSL | Away vs Barnet Panthers U11 | PotM: Iliyana

U11 Girls Silver team
An excellent early kick-off performance saw the girls deliver on their focus areas of teamwork and passing. Energy and commitment were outstanding throughout.
Iliyana was superb, driving the team forward from the back and fully deserving her Player of the Match award.
U16 Pan-Disability
HYIFL | 2-0 vs Millwall, 3-0 vs Rangers, 1-2 vs Brentford, 2-0 vs Luton

U16 Pan-Disability team
A hugely positive tournament with training principles clearly on display. Matthew scored a stunning long-range volley, while the entire squad worked relentlessly.
Strong performances came from Zennon, Joseph, Jack and Barbod in a day full of pride and progress.
U11 Silver
WFL | Away vs APB Wingate U11 | PotM: Ledio, Max | Coaches: Pete L., Angelo L.
Omonia started confidently and applied early pressure, only denied by excellent goalkeeping. A long kick from Adam found Mario, who finished clinically.
The final stages were end-to-end, with both teams showing resilience in an entertaining contest.
U12 Pan-Disability
HYIFL | Five matches at The Dome, Watford FC

U12 Pan-Disability team
A landmark first tournament for several players, who gave everything and embraced the occasion. The team scored three goals and showed fantastic spirit.
Lloyd won the Spirit of the Tournament award, with Harris also recognised for resilience and enjoyment.
U13 Gold
WFL | Away vs Alexandra Park Youth FC | PotM: Christian
Difficult conditions and limited numbers made this a tough test, but the boys showed great togetherness. Logan scored with a composed lob, while David impressed in goal.
Cristian was named Player of the Match, with plenty of positives to take into the new year.

Omonia teams continued to build friendships off the pitch, with festive socials bringing players together in a relaxed and fun environment. The U10 Girls White and U11 Girls Silver squads both enjoyed bowling and dinner, reinforcing the importance of connection beyond match-days.

Omonia Youth FC supports the next generation of referees through its Referee Development Programme. The club sponsors a paid-for FA referee course, followed by five matches officiated for the club, before providing ongoing support across its North London venues.
Andrew (current Omonia player), Melina (former player) and Ali (club website and social media representative) highlight how members continue contributing to the Omonia community in different roles.
