A Weekend of Exciting ‘Football For All’, the OYFC Way (13th Oct)

Omonia Youth FC, a community football club sponsored by Stef & Philips, witnessed a weekend filled with energetic and committed performances across various age groups, including the Pan-Disability and Girls’ teams.
U8 Green
In a closely contested match, the U8 Green boys demonstrated great progress. Despite conceding early long-range shots, the team upped their pressing game, turning the momentum in their favour. Strong link-up play led to two quick goals, with the boys unlucky not to score more. A positive atmosphere from both parents and coaches.
Andy Savas & Dominic Willcock
U9 Green
The U9 Green team continued their impressive start to the season with a determined performance against tough opposition. Defending stoutly in difficult conditions, the boys made the best of their opportunities. Another excellent display of their development. Well done, Greens!
Ben Devons & Kypros Panaretou
U12 Green
The U12 Green side celebrated a 6-1 victory in the WFL league, their first win and competitive points of the season. A new formation worked wonders, with excellent contributions from players across the pitch. Natalie Eleftheriou earned Player of the Match for her masterclass in wide attacking play, securing two goals. A shout-out to Savva Zavros for excellent refereeing.
Sadat Sayeed, Pav Lambrianides & Peter Jordanou
U13 Silver
Despite a tough game against top-table opposition and missing key players, the U13 Silver team put up a strong second-half fight after a difficult first period. They created chances and pressed higher but ultimately fell short. However, their resilience in the second half showed promise for the rest of the season.
George Sammoutis & Angelo Siracusa
U14 White
Omonia U14 White sailed through to the next round of the WFL Junior League Cup with an emphatic 22-0 victory. Every player rotated positions, with standout performances from Victor, who hit the post twice and assisted twice. The coaches praised the team’s development and confidence.
Nick Paraskeva & George Agrotis
U15 Green
In a 5-1 cup defeat to a team three divisions higher, the U15 Green boys delivered their best-ever performance. The scoreline didn’t reflect their effort, as they competed with incredible positional discipline. The second half ended 1-0, and the boys’ improvement was clear. The match was a joy to watch, with supportive crowds on both sides.
Samuel Arthur & John Frangou
U18 Gold
The U18 Gold boys triumphed 6-2 in the Middlesex Cup against the top team in the Harrow League. A fantastic display of team football, with Alex scoring four goals, earning him Player of the Match honours.
George Constantinou
U11 White
In tough conditions, the U11 White team maintained their shape and produced a positive performance. Their defensive resilience held strong, and they gradually took control of the game. A special mention to Co-Chair Sophia for refereeing the match and connecting with the parents.
Fahd Kashmiri & Christos Hajipapas
U14 Gold
The U14 Gold team showed their class with a determined performance in a tough match. Two well-worked goals saw them secure their second consecutive victory.
George Constantinou & Andrew Demetriou
U16 White
A dramatic 1-1 draw saw Omonia U16 White fight back late in the game, with Nicholas scoring a stunning free-kick to equalise. It was a fiercely contested game, and Sophia, Co-Chair of Omonia, refereed admirably, keeping control throughout.
Myri Demetriou, Kyri Eletheriou & Joe da Silva
U16 Pan-Disability
The Pan-Disability team showed great spirit across several matches, including a 2-0 win against Fulham. Millie made her debut, and new players Joseph and Zak were crucial in defence and midfield. Bradley shone with his hard work, reflecting the fantastic team atmosphere.
Mary Tryphona
U10 Girls
In their first game of the season, the U10 Girls brought energy and excitement, focusing on positional awareness. The team impressed, and the coaches are eager to see their development continue.
Kyri, Jake & Theo
U12 Green Girls
The newly formed U12 Green Girls played well in the GSL League, controlling much of the game. Despite not finding the net, the team showed improvement from their last match.
John Symeou
U12 White Girls
The U12 White Girls secured their third consecutive win with a 4-0 victory in the Essex County League. A dominant performance, with goals from Poppy, Sofia, and Melisa, who netted twice. Faith and Melisa were named Players of the Match.
Seema Golding & Tony Sylvan
U14 White Girls
In their first game of the GSL League season, the U14 White Girls showed great transitional play and composure, despite two defensive lapses leading to a defeat. The girls are moving in the right direction, and Player of the Match Lara stood out both in goal and on the field.
Anthony Mattas & Tony Stylianides
U18 Girls
The U18 Girls continued their improvement with a resounding 5-1 win in the Hertfordshire League. Nicole’s confident debut in goal inspired the team, and Shekhinah scored a hat-trick, alongside Georgia’s two goals. Hallie and Niamh were awarded Players of the Match.
Sophia Karanicholas & Samuel Arthur
The weekend at Omonia Youth FC highlighted the incredible growth and success across the club’s teams, especially the impressive strides made in girls’ football. The club’s ongoing mission to provide fun and safe football for all, in line with its ethos, continues to foster an inclusive, supportive environment where players can thrive. Every team, from the youngest to the Pan-Disability squad, showed dedication and teamwork, a testament to the club’s commitment to its values and community.
