January 19, 2017
Last Sunday, community football club Omonia Youth FC, sponsored by P&M Construction Ltd, again had cause to celebrate. Even though many fixtures had to succumb to poor weather conditions, there were nonetheless many superb team and individual performances.
Nick Zimaras’ Under 16 White won 5-3 away having had to come from 2-0 down at half time and again being 3-2 down. It was a thoroughly deserved win as the team created many chances. Goals were scored by Aaron Arnold (2), Cem, Joe Cannon and Rosley. Aaron Arnold was awarded Man of the Match.
Elia Constanti’s Under 16 Green drew 2-2 in difficult conditions. The stark emotions in football were never more exemplified as the U16 Green could have won the game with a few minutes to go but hit the post and then conceded a penalty only for a wonder save from Nikolas Matjilla kept the scores level. Goal scorers were Kobi Brown and Christian Medina. Man of the Match was Lotjan Breganaku
Nick Lingis and Mario Christoforou Under 12 Green suffered their first defeat of the season losing 2-0. Even so, the team put in their best performance of the season with both Nick and Mario proud of their team. As a result the whole team were awarded as Man of the Match.
