U15 White and U14 Green still top of their league

Community football club Omonia Youth FC, sponsored by P&M Construction Ltd, had reason to celebrate last Sunday as two of their teams remained top of the table with other notable triumphs on a cold winter’s day. All the club’s teams observed a minute’s silence in memory of the lives lost in the Chapercoense air crash disaster.
Chris Gregoriou’s Under 15 White suffered their first defeat of the season at the Radiomarathon Centre going down 1-0 in a very tight game. Despite the defeat, the team still sit top of the league thanks to a superior goal difference. Man of the Match was awarded to Liam Togher.
The Under 14 Green won again, winning 4-2, a victory that keeps them top of the Mid Herts Premier League. The goals were scored by George Stasi (3) and Nezehna. Man of the Macth was awarded to Barsa.
In the Under 12 Challenge Cup, Chris and Jimmy Mousicos’ Gold comfortably won 5-0 and moved to the next round of the competition. Scorers for the Golds were Charlie Mousicos, Louis Georgiou, Mike Pavlou, Kayden Trey Virgo and Rhodos Stylianou. Man of the Match was Aaron Lewis.
By contrast Michael Pieri’s Under 12 White were knocked of the Challenge Cup after losing 4-3 after extra time in a cracking cup tie against a team two divisions above them. The match was played in the right spirit with both managers commenting on a great game of football.
Goals were scored by Panos Chambi, Alfonso Roselli and Kyle Lampompe who was also named Man of the Match.
Panos Papa-Michael and Andy Michael’s Under 13 Gold put six unanswered goals past their opponents. Goals scored by Andy Polycarpou (2), Michael Papa-Michael, Youssef Habibi, George Constanti and Fabian Zylyfi. The Man of the Match was awarded to the whole team as they were brilliant from start to finish.
Kyri Haili and Mike Petrou’s U13 White continued their winning run with a routine 3-0 victory.
Goals were scored by Adam Curran, Piergiacomma and David Preece. Man of the Match was Louis Petrou
The performance of the day went to the Under 14 White who stunned their opponents, thrashing them 9-2. Goals were scored by Nick Z (3), Matteo (2), Styli (2) and an own goal. Man of the Match was Nick Zlatkov
Finally, the U16 Green lost 1-0 in a tight game. Man of the Match was Andrew Artimidis
