Omonia Youth FC Weekly Round-Up: Progress, Passion, and Determination (16th Mar)

Omonia Youth FC celebrated another fantastic weekend of football, with teams across different age groups displaying determination, teamwork, and continued progress. A special moment came for the U10 White team, who played their first-ever match together, marking the start of an exciting journey for these young players.

 

U12 White Girls
League Match (Away) | Score: 0-12 Win | PotM: Alissa | Parents’ PotM: Paris | Coaches: Tony Sylvan, Seema Golding, John Panayiotou

Today, the U12 White Girls travelled to Hockley, Essex, where they delivered a commanding display from the outset. Three early goals in the first 20 minutes set the tone, and two more before half-time reflected their attacking dominance. The second half followed a similar pattern, with the girls controlling possession, moving the ball well, and adding another seven goals to their tally. A superb all-round team performance demonstrated their continued growth and improvement each week.

U11 White
League Match (Home) | Coaches: Abdi Ismail, Christos Hajipapas, Fahd Kashmiri

An enjoyable match saw the team showcase a variety of attributes that combined to produce a strong performance. They adapted well, mixing possession football with direct play when necessary, which led to several chances. Winning individual battles across the pitch and covering for teammates when needed, the team remained focused for the full 60 minutes. Hard work off the ball and high-quality decision-making on it resulted in some excellent team goals. A hugely encouraging display from a team that continues to impress.

U10 Girls
League Match (Home) | PotM: Leah | Coaches: Theo Constantinou, Jake Mitchell, Katie Karakoukis

A bright and sunny morning provided the perfect backdrop for another spirited display from the U10 Girls. Right from the start, the team created numerous chances, playing with high energy and attacking intent. The second half saw even more intensity, with the girls pressing higher, winning key battles, and pushing forward with determination. Their resilience and teamwork were clear to see, and the squad can take great pride in their performance.

U13 Silver
League Match (Home) | Score: 3-2 Win | PotM: Nick, Special Mention: Alan | Scorers: Alan (3) | Coaches: George Sammoutis, Mitul Kataria

Omonia put in a fantastic performance against a team with a perfect record, showing quality from the start. Despite falling behind after failing to clear a corner, they responded brilliantly, equalising through a well-worked team move and an excellent finish from Alan. The momentum remained with Omonia, and a pinpoint corner from Nick allowed Alan to grab his second before half-time. The second half was more evenly contested, but Omonia remained a threat and extended their lead after a quick counter-attack, with Max providing a superb assist for Alan’s hat-trick. A late consolation goal for the opposition did not take away from what was arguably Omonia’s performance of the season. A fantastic effort all around!

U12 Green Girls
League Match (Home) | Score: 1-1 Draw | Coaches: John Symeou, Andy Yiannacou

A strong performance saw the team take a 1-0 lead into half-time in what was an entertaining, end-to-end contest. The second half provided more excitement, with both teams playing attacking football and showcasing excellent skills. Omonia continued to improve, demonstrating resilience and teamwork throughout. A positive display, finishing in a well-earned draw.

U10 White
First-Ever Match (Home) | Coaches: Anthony

It was a special occasion for the U10 White team as they played their very first match together. Usually, opening fixtures can be challenging, but the team worked hard, played with enthusiasm, and supported each other throughout. Their energy and commitment were evident, and it was fantastic to see new players beginning their football journey. With continued hard work and development, this team looks set for a bright future. A huge thank you to coach Anthony for his efforts in training and to Neil and Marina for helping to get the team registered and ready to play. A great start!

This weekend showcased another series of determined and skilful performances across the club, with teams demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and a commitment to improving each week. From strong defensive displays to creative attacking football, it was a weekend filled with positive moments. The support from parents, coaches, and teammates continues to be invaluable, helping to foster a positive environment for development. As the season progresses, the focus remains on growth, enjoyment, and embracing the challenges ahead.
