Omonia Youth FC enjoyed another thrilling weekend of football, with players showcasing resilience and skill despite challenging weather conditions. The highlight of the weekend was an intense derby between our U9 Silver and U9 Green teams, reflecting the camaraderie and competitive spirit that defines our club.

 

U8 Green: Strongest Performance of the Season
The U8 Green team delivered a superb performance, showing exceptional marking discipline and quick attacking transitions. Despite the opposition creating pressure in the second half, solid defending ensured the match remained closely contested.

U9 Silver vs. U9 Green: Competitive Derby in Tough Conditions
In a highly anticipated derby match, the U9 Silver and U9 Green teams faced off in blustery weather. Both teams played excellent football, with the Silvers taking the lead via a first-half penalty and the Greens battling back. The match, officiated superbly by Omonia Co-Chair Sophia Karanicholas, highlighted teamwork, energy, and focus. The entire group was recognised as Player of the Match for their collective effort.

U10 Girls: Learning and Growing Together
The U10 Girls showed resilience in a challenging match. Despite adverse conditions, the team demonstrated patience and hard work, with their growing cohesion promising a bright future.

U10 Silver: Focus and Consistency in Victory
On a rainy, windy day, the U10 Silver team put in a focused performance. While the opposition showed glimpses of momentum, the Silvers stayed composed and delivered a strong team display, narrowly missing further goals.

U10 Gold: Late Comeback Sparks Memorable Win
The U10 Gold team showcased determination in an exciting encounter. After falling two goals behind, the team mounted a remarkable comeback with confident possession football, strong defending, and excellent finishing to showcase a wonderful display.

U12 White: Dramatic Last-Second Winner
The U12 White team battled through tough conditions to achieve a dramatic 4-3 win. Trailing 3-1 at halftime, the team’s resilience shone as they mounted a brilliant comeback with a last-minute winning goal. The whole team was recognised for their hard work, with standout performances from Kyri and Mikey.

U13 Silver: Best Performance of the Season
The U13 Silver team delivered a scintillating 5-1 victory in a league match. Following a level first half, tactical adjustments led to a dominant second-half display. Goals from Jack, Dilan, Nick, and Alan (2) sealed the win, with Shay earning Player of the Match for a standout performance.
