Omonia Youth FC’s Weekend of Cup Final Berths, Title Wins, and Inaugural Pan-Disability Tournament Success (14/04)

Omonia Youth FC, a community football club sponsored by Diamond Corp. Ltd., experienced an electrifying weekend filled with anticipation as several teams aimed to advance to their respective finals. With an elevated buzz surrounding the club, fans eagerly awaited the outcomes of thrilling matches across various age groups and divisions.

 

U16 Girls Secure Historic Feat: Omonia’s U16 Girls made history with a sensational double-header victory in the HGFPL league match and the quarter-final of the cup. Shekhinah and Ellie’s impressive brace each sealed two thrilling wins, securing the division 2 HGFPL title and marking the team’s fourth consecutive league title and promotion. Coach Sophia lauded the team’s unity, fighting spirit, and remarkable journey of development and expressed great excitement for reaching the semi-final of their cup campaign.

 

U8 Silvers Learn from Challenging Encounter: Despite hitting the woodwork multiple times, Omonia’s U8 Silver team showcased determination and resilience in a challenging WFL match. With ex-Omonia Youth FC – currently Maidstone United FC – player Harry Kyprianou in attendance, Coach Kyri highlighted the team’s improvement as well as their ability to adapt to the situation at hand and emphasised the importance of learning from such experiences.

 

Men’s I Team Clinches Cup Final Spot: Omonia’s Men’s 1st Team delivered a flawless performance in their Roger Jones Challenge Cup semi-final tie, securing a 2-0 victory and a spot in the final. Coach Chris praised the team’s excellence across all areas of the pitch and commended their brave defending and purposeful attacking play.

 

U13 Greens Stage Remarkable Comeback: In a thrilling Challenge Cup semi-final, Omonia’s U13 Green team showcased resilience and determination against formidable opposition. Despite conceding early, and falling behind twice in the game, the team battled back with two late goals, securing a dramatic 3-2 victory and a jubilant end to the match showing their excitement over obtaining a spot in their first cup final.

 

Pan-Disability Football Tournament a Huge Success: Omonia’s involvement in the HYIF Pan-Disability Football Tournament was met with immense pride and satisfaction. The event, featuring 14 teams over four pitches, provided an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and enjoy a day filled with football and fun. Organiser Mary expressed gratitude to everyone involved and anticipated future successful tournaments.

 

The weekend’s match reports paint a picture of triumph, resilience, and community spirit at Omonia Youth FC. With several teams securing title wins and cup final berths, alongside the successful hosting of the Pan-Disability Football Tournament, it was truly an incredible weekend for the club.
