Omonia Youth FC Teams Continue Strong Start to the New Season (22nd Sep)

Omonia Youth FC, a community football club sponsored by Stef & Philips, saw its teams deliver some excellent performances this weekend as the new season gets underway. With continued effort and spirit, players across all age groups showcased their skills and determination. It’s also worth noting that many teams donned their new football kits to commemorate the club’s 30th anniversary, with the kits sponsored by Stef & Philips, the club’s main youth teams sponsor.

 

U18 Whites Cup Success
Omonia U18 Whites secured a commanding 4-1 cup win. After a scoreless first half, they dominated the second with a perfect hat-trick from Nick, who was named Player of the Match. Tommy added a fourth to seal the victory. Despite a brief setback after a short back pass, the team showed resilience and composure, restoring and extending their lead. A solid performance all around.

 

U9 Silver Keep Battling
Omonia U9 Silver faced a large and physical opponent but held their own throughout. The boys played forward as a team, displaying effort and commitment. Though not everything clicked, their determination was evident, and they expended all their energy by the final whistle. The team continues to bond, and it’s clear they will only improve week by week.

U11 Whites Impress
Despite being short-handed with no substitutes available, Omonia U11 Whites played brilliantly from start to finish, limiting the opposition to very few chances. The players showcased their ability to play both short and long when necessary, making their coaches proud. A special mention to Samuel and the match officials for helping make it an enjoyable experience.

 

U7 Whites Show Determination
Omonia U7 Whites, despite having only four players, played with great heart and energy. The boys displayed solid tackling and good runs, incorporating skills they had worked on during training. Despite being outnumbered, they fought hard throughout and left everything on the pitch, showing immense promise and determination.

U7 Greens Fight Back
The U7 Greens faced early challenges but showed their resilience by coming back strong in the second half, winning it despite an overall loss. The team demonstrated grit, with strong challenges, excellent teamwork, and even a hat-trick performance. They’ll be looking to build on this in their next match.

 

U8 Greens Show Progress
Omonia U8 Greens showed marked improvement from their first match last week. Though they conceded early goals, the team’s pressing and marking helped them settle into the game. Excellent defending and impressive saves kept the scoreline respectable, while an outstanding passing sequence led to their first ever goal. Several chances followed, showing great promise for the future.

It was a weekend filled with determination and hard work for Omonia Youth FC teams, as they continued to build on their early season progress. From dominating performances to resilient comebacks, each team showed great spirit, with many positives to take forward. As the season progresses, the players’ growth and camaraderie will surely continue to shine.
