Omonia Youth FC Weekly Round-Up: Omonia Youth FC Stands United in Tribute and Excellence (9th Mar)
March 10, 2025

This past weekend, Omonia Youth FC stood in solidarity with the wider football community by observing a minute’s silence before matches in honour of Poppy Atkinson, a young athlete whose life was tragically lost in a devastating accident on Wednesday evening. The show of respect highlighted the values that football upholds—community, togetherness, and support in times of hardship.
The club also celebrates being recognised by the FA with an exclusive Equal Game kite-mark, a testament to its commitment to providing equal opportunities in football for women and girls. This award reflects the club’s ongoing dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
On the pitch, Omonia teams delivered a weekend of passion, determination, and fantastic football.
U12 GOLD PRODUCE MASTERCLASS IN DOMINANT DISPLAY
League match | Score: 9-0 win | PotM: Logan | Scorers: Losene (4), Logan (2), Alfie, Luke G, Teddy | Coaches: John Georgiou, Soteris Mantilaris
Both teams paid their respects to Poppy Atkinson with a minute’s silence before kick-off.
It was a perfect morning for football, and Omonia Gold wasted no time asserting their dominance. Losene opened the scoring within a minute, quickly followed by Alfie converting a penalty. The team kept pushing, with Losene doubling his tally before Logan, back from injury, smashed in a half-volley. Luke G then produced a moment of brilliance with a Beckham-esque lob from the halfway line, catching the goalkeeper off guard.
The second half saw no let-up, as Teddy struck early before Losene completed his hat-trick and added a fourth. Logan rounded off the scoring with a well-taken finish to cap off a ruthless performance. A spectacular display from the entire squad.

U9 SILVER SHOW SPIRIT IN SEASON’S BEST PERFORMANCE
League match | PotM: Alessandro | Coaches: Kyri Karaiskakis, Paolo Di Bernado, Becky Nyman
Despite being down to just seven players due to illness, Omonia Silver produced their best performance of the season.
On a warm and sunny day, there were initial concerns about how the team would cope without substitutes, but those fears were quickly put to rest. A rock-solid defensive display ensured the opposition was kept at bay, while the attackers dominated possession and created chance after chance. The boys played with energy, intelligence, and confidence, showing resilience throughout.
The day was made even more special when the team met Anthony Joshua, who generously took the time to take photos with them—a memory to cherish after an incredible performance.

U11 WHITE FIND THEIR RHYTHM IN EMPHATIC WIN
League match | PotM: Harry H. | Coaches: Abdi Ismail, Christos Hajipapas, Fahd Kashmiri
After a couple of tough results, Omonia White responded in the best possible way with a commanding performance.
The team approached the game with renewed focus, playing with confidence and composure despite the tricky pitch conditions. Sticking to their philosophy of playing out from the back, they avoided the temptation of going long and instead built attacks patiently and effectively.
The rewards came in abundance, with goals flowing throughout and two players securing hat-tricks. It was a complete team performance, with every player making an impact. The ‘Green Machine’ rolls on with another fantastic display.

U8 GREEN SHINE IN ATTACKING DISPLAY
League match | PotM: Manu | Coaches: Andy Savas, Dominic Willcock
The bright spring morning seemed to inspire Omonia Green, as the team produced an electric performance full of skill, energy, and determination.
From the outset, the team looked sharp. Leo and Chris made marauding runs down the wings, Manu posed a constant goal threat, and Christian was commanding in defence. The Greens took an early lead and looked in control, but a lapse allowed the opposition back into the game.
Undeterred, the team raised their intensity once more. Marco defended bravely, Leonidas and Christopher worked tirelessly on the flanks, while Michael’s movement up front kept the opposition on edge. James remained assured in goal, ensuring the team finished strongly. A fantastic all-round performance showcasing the team’s hunger and development.
