Omonia Youth FC Under 14 Silver are champions

February 28, 2019

At this stage of the season, points are important for promotion and titles aspirations as well as cup matches for qualification to the next round. The many teams of grassroots football club Omonia Youth FC, sponsored by PIA Financial Group and Philip Ross Solicitors had plenty to cheer last week and none more so than George Sammoutis and Harry Theodorou’s Under 14 Silver who secured promotion and the title by winning 7-1.

It was tremendous display from the team, showing great character after losing the derby the previous week to secure a second successive promotion and title. Huge congratulations to all involved. Goals were scored by Viktor Borisov (3), Lucien Clark, Joe Tullis, Rohan Biswas and Mehmet Buyuk. Man of the Match was shared between Gabriel Nyarko-Duodu, Ben Pool and Rohan.

The result also helped Michael Pieri’s Under 14 White. While they were beaten 3-1 on a very poor surface and unable to stop making basic errors, they stay in second place with the distinct possibility of making it an Omonia Youth one-two and double promotion. Goal for Under 14 White was scored by Emmanuel Onuoha-Nzeh who was also named Man of the Match.

Dino and Nick Georgiou’s Under 16 White had a fairly straightforward match as they cruised to an 11-0 win in their Spring Plate group match. With the result never in doubt, manager Nick tried different and the boys kept their shape reasonably well. Goals were scored by Styli Chrysostomou (3), Theo Stavrou (2), Apostolos Tziatzios (2), Nick Apostolou (2), Louis Capsalis and Alex Panteli. Man of the Match was awrded to Styli and Alex Panteli

Panos Papa-Michael, Elias Constanti and Andy Michael’s Under 15 Gold played the team who defeated them the previous and the team showed real desire and together with the quality football that they can play, came out 3-2 victors! The result was even more impressive with the fact the under 15 Gold only had only 11 players, which included a goalkeeper playing on pitch.

They scored twice in the first 5 mins and then had a hatful of chances to kill the game. Unfortunately the opposition pulled a goal back just before halftime. The Under 15 Gold hit the woodwork 3 times and then after absorbing some pressure, the opposition equalised to make it 2-2 with 10 mins to go. However, the Under 15 won and vovetretd a pently in the 90th minute to win 3-2. There were many candidates for Man of the Match today but George Constanti edged it with a very mature performance. Goals were scored by Zack (2) and Fabion (pen)

Omi Omirou and Stel’s Under 13 Green cruised to a 5-0 win in their Spring Cup group game.

Will G (2), Jamal M, Zach O and Leo I scored the goals with Leo also named Man of the Match

Nick Lingis and Christoforou’s Under 14 Green kept their recent good form going with a 3-1 win. It was a great performance from the boys and sets them up nicely for the County Cup semi-final next Sunday.  Erin M, George A and Joe K scored the goals. Joe S & George A were named Man of the Match

Mario Demetriou, Johnny Othona and Elvis Leon’s Under 12 Green played with only 9 players and no recognised goalkeeper but still came away with a 4-0 win. The boys worked hard and have a great fitness level. They encouraged each other and scored four very well taken goals. Scorers were Alex (3) and Zack. Man of the Match was Harry.

Savva Zavros and David Poncia’s Under 13 Gold played excellent “all team football“ today which saw them win 3-1. Leo Capsalis, Louis Brown and Ky Zavros got the goals with Max Albrecht named Man of the Match.

Chris Gregoriou and Andy Kyriacou’s Under 18 White extended their unbeaten run to eight matches with a 3-1 win thanks to a solid all round performance. Dev Genc, Stavros Konstandinitis and Daniel Reid scored with George Kyriacou named Man of the Match.

And it was double delight for the Under 18 age group as Kyri Georgiou’s Under 18 Green also won beating a tough opponent two divisions higher 5-2 in their Spring Cup group game. Goals were scored by Leon Brotherton, Robert Neophytou, Rico Charalambous, Costa Stylianou and Charlie Constanti. Man of the Match was Robert Neophytou.
