Omonia Youth FC Kicks Off the New Season with Passion & Promise While Sporting Their New 30th Anniversary Kits (8-17th Sep)

Omonia Youth FC, a community football club sponsored by Stef & Phillips, kicked off the new season in style, with most teams playing their first matches of the campaign. Marking the club’s 30th anniversary, the players proudly donned their new football kits, generously sponsored by the club’s main youth sponsor, Stef & Phillips. Across the board, teams delivered strong performances, with exciting wins, hard-fought contests, and plenty of positives to build on for the season ahead.
U16 Pan-Disability Team’s Spirited Return to Action
The Pan-Disability U16 team returned to the Middlesex & London FA Pan Disability League with three tough 20-minute games. The team showed flashes of great passing, although their dribbling and communication need work. Their second match saw positional adjustments that led to two goals and improved play. The final match was a fun mixed-team event that ended in a draw, leaving everyone smiling. Coaches Mary Tryphona and her staff were pleased with the resilience shown and look forward to further development.
A Promising Start for U12 Girls White Team Despite Narrow Defeat
The U12 Girls White played their first Essex League match of the season and put in a commendable performance. The girls dominated much of the game with sharp passing and attacking intent. Despite conceding from a rebound after a brilliantly saved penalty by Kayci, the team showed plenty of promise. Coaches Tony Sylvan and Seema Golding praised the girls’ efforts and are excited for their upcoming home fixture, believing the best is yet to come.
U11 White Team’s Strong Debut in New Format
The U11 White team faced their first challenge in the 9-a-side format, learning valuable lessons in positioning and teamwork. While they couldn’t secure a win, the team showed determination and plenty of positive play. LJ was voted Player of the Match by his teammates for his tireless effort, and Aadam was recognised by the coaches for his hard work. Coaches Abdi Ismail, Christos Hajipapas, and Fahd Kashmiri were proud of the boys’ performance and are confident they’ll continue to grow in the new format.
Dominant Start to the Season by U16 White Team
The U16 White team opened their campaign with a convincing 3-0 win. Nicholas was the star with two goals, while Andrew added the third in a match where Omonia Youth FC controlled possession and created numerous chances. The boys’ discipline and teamwork were on full display, impressing coaches Kyri Eleftheriou and Myri Demetriou. Nicholas was named Player of the Match for his goals and all-around performance, as the team set a positive tone for the season.
U18 Gold Team’s Comprehensive Victory to Start the Season
The U18 Gold team got off to a flying start with a 4-0 win in their first league game since moving up from the U16s. Sam led the charge with two goals, supported by Antony and Oscar, who each added one to the scoreline. Coaches George Constantinou and Roberto Protei praised the team for their intensity, particularly their ability to recover possession quickly. Antzelos was named Player of the Match for his tireless contribution across the pitch.
Battling Performance from U14 Gold Team Despite Setbacks
It was a difficult start for the U14 Gold team, who went into their first match with several players missing through injury. Despite this, the team fought hard but ultimately lost 6-2. Camilo and Mal provided the goals, and while the side struggled to cope with a fast opponent, the players showed great spirit. Coaches George Constantinou and Andrew Demetriou are confident the team will bounce back in their midweek game.
U7 Green Team’s Promising First Outing
The U7 Green team had their first game of the season and, despite a slow start, they showed great improvement as the match went on. The young team demonstrated courage, resilience, and enthusiasm, which delighted the coaches. Parents were also highly supportive throughout the game. Player of the Match was awarded to Freddie for his fantastic performance and leadership on the pitch.
U15 Green Team Produces Strong Performance Despite Loss
The U15 Green team’s season opener saw them narrowly defeated, but they dominated large parts of the game. Their second-half performance was especially strong, culminating in a well-earned penalty. While they struggled to convert their chances, the team showed they are ready for the season ahead. Coaches Samuel Arthur and John Frangou were particularly proud of Farbood, who came off the bench and increased the intensity of the whole team, earning him Player of the Match.
U14 White Team’s Fantastic Start with a Hard-Fought Win
The U14 White team began their season with a thrilling 4-2 win. Roman led the charge with a hat-trick, showing why he was the club’s top scorer last season, and Zacki added the fourth with a stunning long-range effort. Coaches Nick Paraskeva and George Agrotis were delighted with their team’s collective effort, especially with Roman’s clinical finishing and Zacki’s powerful goal. The team is ready to build on this fantastic start.
U18 White Team Manufacture Statement Big Win in the Season Opener
The U18 White team kicked off their campaign with an emphatic 9-1 win. The team was slow to start but found their rhythm in the second half after a few tactical tweaks. Goals came from Tommy (2), Jack (2), Chris (2), Nicholas, Harry, and Alexie. Player of the Match was awarded to Tommy, who had a brilliant debut performance. Coaches Panny Panayiotou and Steve Kiltou were impressed with the team’s second-half dominance and look forward to more strong performances this season.
A Promising Start to the Season for U9 Silver Team
The U9 Silver team began their season with a great display of team spirit and improvement. While the boys are still getting to know each other, there was a noticeable difference in their performance between the first and second half as they grew more comfortable on the pitch. Attacking and defending improved as the game went on, and the positive atmosphere from both players and parents made it a rewarding day for everyone. Coach Kyri Karaiskakis and Paolo Di Bernado were proud of the team’s effort. Player of the Match was Kranthi.
U14 White Team Provides Late Drama in Thrilling Victory
Omonia U14 White delivered a thrilling 2-1 victory in a midweek game, scoring the winner with the last kick of the match. Roman scored a stunning long-range effort just before half-time to give the team the lead, and despite conceding a late equaliser, the team pushed forward and earned a free-kick, which Chris converted with a powerful strike to secure the win. Coaches Nick Paraskeva and George Agrotis were overjoyed with the team’s determination and team spirit.
