Omonia Youth FC Weekly Round-Up: Growth, Grit & New Opportunities (02/11)
November 3, 2025

It was another spirited weekend of football for Omonia Youth FC, proudly sponsored by Stef & Phillips, with teams across the club continuing to demonstrate commitment, skill, and togetherness. Alongside some fantastic on-field performances, the club is also looking ahead to the future as it launches its new recruitment campaign for players of all ages and abilities.
U9 Green
Home vs HMH U9 Bears | Player of the Match: Michael | Coaches: Andy, Paul & Chris
Omonia produced a much-improved display this week, showing a strong reaction to their previous performance. The team’s work rate was noticeably higher, pressing well and moving the ball with purpose. While they created plenty of attacking moments, a few soft opportunities were gifted to the opposition, serving as a reminder of the importance of tracking back and defending with the same commitment shown going forward. Attacking play down the wings from Christopher and Leo was a real highlight, keeping the Bears under pressure throughout a closely contested first half.
In the second half, Omonia raised the tempo and began to dominate large periods of play. The intensity in attack led to several clear chances, and with a bit more composure, more of those opportunities would have been converted. Although energy levels dipped in the closing stages, the overall performance was full of positives and signs of progress.

The Golds continued their excellent run but had to overcome moments of adversity to do so. Having dominated the opening stages, a knock to one of the players and a change in shape allowed Borehamwood back into the game. Early in the second half, the opposition equalised and looked likely to take the lead.
Omonia, however, showed outstanding resilience. Banding together, they weathered the storm and restored their advantage through a superb team goal. That moment reignited their energy and focus, with crucial defensive blocks and excellent goalkeeping preserving the lead before the team put the game out of reach.
There’s still plenty to refine—particularly communication and positional shape—but this was another confident, disciplined display from a united squad.
U14 Silver
Away vs New Salamis | 1–2 win | Goal-scorers: Jack, Alex
A hard-fought game and a deserved victory for Omonia against familiar opposition. The first half was tightly contested, with Omonia edging the play but unable to create clear chances despite dominating possession.
The half-time message was clear—use the width and move the ball quickly. The breakthrough came through a delightful chipped finish from Jack after a quick counter and incisive through ball from Albion. A dubious penalty allowed New Salamis to equalise, but Omonia responded superbly. Another exquisite pass from Albion was finished brilliantly by Alex from the edge of the box. A crucial late save from Panos secured the win.

Up against a strong team, Omonia found the going tough. Heads dropped after early goals, and despite brief moments of promise, the team struggled to regain their composure. The focus now shifts to training, where the emphasis will be on effort, defensive tracking, and determination to fight for every ball. The coaches remain confident that with renewed commitment, improvement will follow quickly.
