Omonia Youth FC’s Weekly Round-Up: Comebacks, Clean Sheets and Collective Spirit (28/09)

It was another inspiring weekend of football for Omonia Youth FC, the community football club sponsored by Stef & Phillips. From thrilling comebacks to composed wins, every squad showed commitment, growth, and plenty of pride on the pitch.

 

U11 Silver – Second Half Spark

Omonia Youth FC U11 Silver team

The U11 Silver battled through a game of two halves. After struggling in the opening period, unable to settle into their passing rhythm, they regrouped at half-time and came out revitalised. Quick passing and relentless energy turned the tide, with resilience and teamwork shining through. Sporting pressed hard, but Omonia’s determination and structure ensured they came away with heads held high. Mario and Leo shared Player of the Match for their outstanding second-half impact.

 

U10 Green Girls – Inspiring Team Play

U10 Green Girls

The U10 Green Girls played with positivity and confidence from start to finish. Their hard work in training paid off, as they displayed excellent teamwork, creative midfield play, and sharp attacking movement. The girls’ passion and determination impressed everyone watching, with families left proud of a committed and skilful display.

 

U11 Silver Girls – Determined Display

Omonia Youth FC U11 Silver Girls team

The U11 Silver Girls came out with real energy, creating chances and finding early goals. Despite hitting the post on several occasions, their attacking play was exciting to see. The opposition grew into the game, but Omonia kept working as a team and never gave up. With continued focus on finishing chances, the squad will only grow stronger. Iliyana was awarded Player of the Match for her skill, attitude, and persistence.

 

U9 Green – Relentless Energy

The U9 Green produced one of their most disciplined and energetic performances of the season. Relentless pressing disrupted their opponents, while confident passing and positional organisation helped dominate play. Goals from Chris and Greg rewarded the effort, with Greg also claiming Player of the Match for his composure and quality in the final third.

 

U12 White – Lessons Learned in Victory
WFL, Home vs St Albans City Youth Central U12, 5–3 win, Goals: Lockie, LJ (3), Ollie, Player of the Match: LJ

The U12 White were slow out of the blocks, conceding twice early, but fought back to 2–2 by half-time. A clear message at the break sparked improved intensity, and a captain’s hat-trick from LJ inspired a 5–3 comeback win. Though not their most polished display, the boys gained valuable lessons and retained their place at the top of the division.

 

U16 Green – Best Yet
WFL, Away vs Hinton U16, 5–0 win, Goals: Georgio (2), Gorkem, Mo, Antony, Player of the Match: Leo

The U16 Green delivered their finest team performance in recent seasons. Playing as a unit, they pressed aggressively, supported one another, and controlled the game throughout. The backline was composed and disciplined, while clinical finishing sealed a commanding 5–0 victory. Leo took Player of the Match for his composure and leadership at the back.

 

U13 Gold – Edging a Thriller
WFL, Away vs Titans U13 White, 4–3 win, Goals: Logan, Losene (2), Teddy, Player of the Match: Losene

Omonia Youth FC U13 Gold team

The U13 White started brightly with goals from Logan, Teddy and Losene, supported by excellent defensive work. Titans responded in the second half, but Omonia held firm to secure a 4–3 win, with David even saving a late penalty. Losene’s brace and tireless contribution earned him Player of the Match.

 

U13 Green – Composed and Clinical

Omonia Youth FC U13 Green team

The U13 Green faced unbeaten opponents but put in a masterclass of control and composure. Brilliant interplay led to four excellent goals, with contributions across the pitch. The defensive unit was superb, while midfielders Adam and Omer drove the game forward. Omer’s leadership and goals, alongside Adam’s strength in midfield, saw them share Player of the Match.

 

U9 White – Signs of Growth
WFL, Away

The U9 White continued their development with a battling performance. While fitness and reaction speed remain areas to improve, the team showed more desire and are adjusting to the pace of competitive football. Encouragingly, their resilience and progress were clear for all to see.

 

U10 Gold – A Team Coming Together

The U10 Gold are settling into their first season together and showed just how far they’ve come. Stronger defensive organisation and improved passing under pressure were clear to see, while determination and spirit ensured they competed strongly against a tough opponent. Aryen was named Player of the Match for his excellent displays in both midfield and defence.

 

U15 White – Heroic Cup Victory
Challenge Cup, Home vs Bloomsbury Blue, 3–2 win, Goals: Alexander, Chris, Atila

Down to 10 men early and later 9 for a period, the U15 White produced a gutsy, determined performance to claim their first win of the season. With superb resilience, strong defending, and sharp attacking finishes, they edged a thrilling 3–2 victory. The backline in particular earned praise for their commitment under pressure.

 

U11 Green – Best Performance Yet
WFL, Home vs Borehamwood Youth Knights, Player of the Match: Fernando

The U11 Green produced their strongest display since moving to 9-a-side. Confident passing and ball movement defined the first half, while their resilience and work rate in the second kept Borehamwood at bay. Fernando’s defensive reading and intelligent distribution earned him Player of the Match.

 

U15 Gold – Unbeaten Streak Continues
WFL, Home vs Alexandra Park, 5–3 win, Goals: Noah (2), Dino, Aiden, Chris, Player of the Match: Chris

The U15 Gold maintained their unbeaten start with another strong display. Despite trailing 2–1 at half-time, tactical adjustments saw them rally with quick goals before sealing a 5–3 win. Chris was superb at left back, contributing both a goal and an assist, and took Player of the Match honours.

 

This weekend gave Omonia Youth plenty to celebrate. From hard-earned victories to valuable lessons in tough matches, the progress across every age group was clear to see. There was pride in the way teams dug deep, joy in the goals scored, and encouragement in the steps forward made by new and developing squads. With more fixtures on the horizon, the players, coaches and supporters will be eager to build on this momentum and enjoy another week of football together.
